Presenter: Dr Phillip Rumrill, PhD, CRC

Objectives:

  1. Discuss the progress made in making the American workforce more inclusive and accessible to the disability community.
  2. Describe persistent concerns on the part of employers about hiring and accommodating workers with disabilities.
  3. Provide empirical evidence that workers with disabilities often prove equal to the task in comparisons with non-disabled workers, suggesting that within the disability community lies a valuable labor resource.

Presenter: Phillip Rumrill, Ph.D., CRC, is the Red Cedar Distinguished Professor of Counseling and Counselor Education at Michigan State University. He is one of the leading disability and employment researchers in the United States. He is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences in Vocational Rehabilitation, and his books (e.g., Foundations of the Vocational Rehabilitation Process, Case management and Rehabilitation Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling and Emerging Disabilities, Research in Rehabilitation Counseling) are widely used in graduate training programs and professional development courses.
